The Bee's New Window Decoration

Who is this creature that likes to hang on the kitchen sink window?

Why it's Stinger's cat Happy of course!

Stinger must be teaching her his climbing tricks because this window is about six feet off the ground.  At least I have an audience while I wash dishes!  Maybe I could train her to be my window washer?

A Bee Takes A Test

Honey had his first exam in his college class this weekend.  Honey asked me if I would help him out by making notecards that he could study from.  I said yes, and then I saw his notes...

that consisted of pages and pages of  his tiny writing...

but, I helped him anyway.  I made him some study notecards...

and we studied late into the night.  It reminded me of when he was in college years ago!  I quizzed him many times on the subject of assessment and curriculum philosophies.

I also quizzed him about the parts of the brain and how we learn, which included a lot of information that I had learned in my college psychology class years ago.   It was one of my favorite classes.  The professor had a way of making everything we learned relevant to our own lives.  One thing that we learned that I still remember to this day is about how to pick a parking space.  She told us never ever to park beside a white van.  Why? Because people that drive white vans are more likely to be kidnappers and serial killers!!  I have never parked beside a white van in the last 11 years!

A BEE C News

Our top story tonight... Two stray cats were found in the Bee's living room...

Since arriving, they have been meowing nonstop in their baskets.  No word yet on who they belong too.

This just in...Queen Bee says she plans on keeping them!

Cinnamon is the spice of choice in the hive this week.

Known for it's yummy flavor on toast, a certain Bee was spotted  "drinking" cinnamon numerous times this past week.

And now we turn to the never ending winter weather.  There may be snow and ice outside...

but do not worry, the outside plants around the hive are begin cared for by Bumble.

She thought this one could use some water!

Chicken Rice Bake

While Bumble is practicing her Olympic figure skating routine, I think I will make her an award winning dish.  Well, this dish received a gold medal in our household anyway!

Here is the recipe for Chicken Rice Bake:

2 1/2 cups cooked rice (1 1/4 cup uncooked)
2 cups chicken breasts cooked and cut into small pieces
2- 10 3/4 oz. cans of cream of chicken soup
3/4 cups water
1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

First cook the chicken and rice.  When I buy the big bargain packs of chicken breasts, I fry the chicken in olive oil and then freeze it in freezer bags to be used in recipes like this one.  All you have to do is thaw it and it is ready! It is so much cheaper and faster to prepare that way!  I also have a rice cooker which is so nice to cook the rice in.  It turns out perfect every time.  It is one of my most used small kitchen appliances that I have!

Then, place the cooked rice in the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish.  Mix the soup, water, and chicken  together in a  bowl...

and pour it over the rice...

Then spread the cheese over the top.

Then bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.  This want-to-be Olympian loves this dish.

It will give her the energy she needs to complete the triple lutz she is working on!

The Bees Have Tea

Bumble invited me to a tea party...

I don't think she thinks about the comfort of her guests when planning these parties, but Stinger sure had fun!

This tea party was actually more comfortable than the last one she invited me too!...

Happy Valentine's Day!

From Honey to Queen Bee: Thank you very much for being you. You are not just the mother in this family. You are not just my wife. You are what keeps this family going. You are an amazing mother and wife. If the next ten years are as good as the first ten years of our marriage, they are going to be pretty awesome. Every day I thank God for bringing you into my life. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

P.S.: You are more valuable than the Mona Lisa but I would like to be the frame that holds you nonetheless.

My Dish Washing Bees

Thank you God for my dish washing Bees.
They may not do it my way, but they aim to please.

With water on the floor and more on their sleeves...

It's their helpful heart that You help me to see.

Thank you God for my dish washing Bees.
I'll just mop up the floor and take off their sleeves...

'cause someday I'll miss these days I believe,
when they are all grown into fine adult Bees!

Stinger's New Word

We have a problem.  Stinger now has a word for milk.  You wouldn't think that this would be a problem, but the word he has for milk doesn't resemble the word at all.  In fact it starts with a B sound, and has an "ear" sound at the end.  That's right!  My son calls milk... "beer"!  I have no idea where this came from.  We do not buy beer or drink beer as we are a dry hive!  He doesn't even know what beer is!  I have come to the conclusion that it is just a group of sounds that is easy for him to say.   Imagine my horror as I push him down the milk aisle at the grocery store as he yells, "beer, beer, beer!"  Enjoy this video Honey took!

Queen Bee Makes Macaroni and Cheese

Bumble loves macaroni and cheese.  I finally found a recipe she approves of! The kids are having fun laying in the bookshelves right now, so I think I have some time to prepare this dish...

Here are the ingredients..

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1/2 cup butter
2 Tablespoons flour
2 Cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 oz. cheddar cheese

First cook the macaroni according to package instructions.  While that is cooking, we will start on the cheesy sauce.  In a saucepan melt the butter until bubbling.  If you can't bring yourself to put an entire stick of butter in this dish then only put in half of it.  I have made it both ways and it was fine with eliminating some of the butter.  Then over medium heat stir in the flour until it is smooth and bubbly.  Now add the salt and milk and cook until it thickens, stirring occasionally.

Now that the sauce has thickened, it is time to add the cheese.  Stir the cheese into the sauce until melted.  Then place the cooked macaroni into a 2 quart baking dish and pour the cheese sauce over top...

Then place the dish in a 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.  Here is the finished macaroni and cheese...

Now Bumble and Stinger, smile and say "cheese"!

I don't think they will be too happy when I decorate these bookshelves.
