Queen Bee's Craft Project

I am still working on decorating Bumble's bedroom.  It is taking a little longer than I thought, but hopefully it will all be completed soon.  I thought it would be neat if she had a bulletin board so she could hang her pictures and artwork.  A BIG fabric covered bulletin board can get pretty pricey and Queen Bee could not find any good coupons or deals on them.  I decided to make one for her...well actually three smaller boards that will work as one!

Here are the supplies I used for this project...

Cork board bought at Walmart for around $5.00
Upholstery nails
Fabric glue
Hammer
Fabric to cover the cork board
Scissors

The fabric I wanted to use to cover the board was thin and the cork showed through so I covered the cork board first with white fabric from an old table cloth I found in the attic.  I cut a square a little bigger than the board and put fabric glue on the frame.

Then I folded the fabric over the board, and stretched it as I did each side.

Then I secured the corners with upholstery nails.

Isn't it pretty just like this?

Then I laid the fabric I wanted to use over the board and cut a piece the correct size.  This fabric is from a curtain that had a hole in it.

Then I glued the fabric to the cork board frame on the back and hammered some nails here and there to hold it tight.  As I was hammering I was telling Honey that I always had an interest in construction.  Honey laughed.  I don't know why?!?  He may have seen all the nails I smashed or broke!

This is what the back looked like at the end of the project...

This is the front...

I did two other ones as well.

Now Bumble has some pretty fabric covered bulletin boards for her room, and Queen Bee didn't have to spend much for them!

A Bee C News

Our top story tonight... A pillow fight broke out in the living room in the Bee hive this past week.  According to eye witnesses a Honey Bee started it.

Honey declined an interview, but one can assume this happened because the Bees had some extra space due to clearing out their living room to paint it.  We are happy to report no little Bees were injured and we are told they were even heard asking for "more" and saying "again Daddy!"

We turn now to sports... Pretend swimming is the popular sport of the week...

To participate all you need is a pair of goggles.  Then, just pretend to swim around the kitchen island.  We are told that the participant above is known not to keep on his socks, shoes, hats, gloves, or clothes but LOVES to wear goggles!

Now onto traffic... If traveling on the CAT this week expect "fur"ther delays!

This has been A BEE C news.  Thank you for joining us!

Bumble Turns.....60!

Today we celebrated Bumble's birthday.  She turned five years old!  She asked me how many months that would be and I told her 60 months.  She thought that was a lot and that she must be really old.  Then I told her that I was 393 months old!!!  Here are some birthday pictures to look at while you all are trying to figure out how many months old you are!

We love you Bumble!  Happy Birthday!

Stinger and Happy

Oh the weather outside is frightful
but in the hive it's so delightful.
So mommy let in my cat.
for me to hold, me to hold, me to hold.

Oh my cat likes me to squeeze her

just kidding it really annoys her

then I chase her all around
on the ground, on the ground, on the ground

When I finally tell her goodnight
Oh I don't want her to go out in the storm

My mommy says that she'll be fine
down in the basement she'll stay warm.

Oh I love my cat Happy
She's in the basement, I miss her dearly
and since she's not allowed up here
down I go, down I go, down I go!

Dear Mr. Sherwin Williams

Dear Mr. Sherwin Williams,

I love staring at your paint fan deck.  It's beautiful.

I used to watch HGTV's Design Star and think, I could do that.  I don't think I would get very far in the competition though.  I take to long to make decisions.  All of the other contestants would have their rooms completed and I would still be staring at your paint fan deck!
This past week,  I have been trying to find the perfect paint color for our foyer, dining, living room, and kitchen area.  I have spent hours staring and comparing and Internet browsing, and I finally narrowed it down to two of your strips.

Honey and I went your store and bought some sample cans of some colors that "spoke" to us from these two strips.  Here are two of the colors.  The one on the left is your paint color Relaxed Khaki (SW6149).  The one on the right is Rice Grain (SW6155).  What do you think?

I know I shocked you all with the tan and brown.  I tried them at different places around the living room...

and in the foyer...

Honey wants to make a decision tonight because he has thirteen days off for Christmas vacation and wants to get this done.  I am leaning towards the lighter color Rice Grain, but have been known to change my mind in the last few minutes.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Sincerely,
Queen Bee

A BEE C News

Thank you for joining us. Our top story tonight...The plan to construct a road made entirely out of children's books is underway in the hive.  After being "shelved" last month by lawmakers it was finally given the go ahead this week...

Many books were used in the construction process...

It took two worker Bees two hours to complete...

No word yet as to how long road will be able to exist!

Now lets turn to traffic.  If planning to travel on the book road this week, watch out for slow moving traffic...

The bible characters are bringing in the harvest.

If passing them, make sure to "book" it!

The Bee's Go Sledding

Dashing through the snow
On a sled that Honey bought

Now back up the hill I go.
This is harder than I thought.

Whom is this I spy?
It's my brother whom I love.

I'll have him pull this sled for me
even though he wears no gloves!

Oh sledding, sledding, sledding with the Bees
O what fun is going down but going up is hard for me.
Oh sledding, sledding, sledding with the Bees
If Stinger will not wear his gloves his hands will surely freeze!

The Bee's Christmas Card

Here is the official behind the scenes look at the longest Christmas card photo shoot of all time...

I was the photographer.  I have no experience.

Which is why I had to take about 100 pictures...

Just to get ONE decent one of Stinger.

He is making a face in this one and it doesn't look anything like him, but this is the one I used.  Bumble on the other hand cooperated, and there were many good ones to choose from.  This is the one we used on our card.

 Hope you "get" the picture!

A BEE C News

Thank you for joining us. Let's begin with today's top story.  A Bee has been displaced from her bedroom due to paint fumes.  A temporary shelter has been put up in the living room to accommodate this displaced Bee.

By the looks of it, she doesn't seem to mind.

Let's turn now to sports.  The latest craze in the Bee hive is Mega Block roller skating.  Ever hear of it?

This painful idea to stand on blocks that have wheels attached to them and skate around the kitchen table was the brainy idea of Stinger himself.  Then Bumble had to try it too! Here's to hoping this craze ends soon and we can go back to building with the blocks instead!

Now for traffic and weather together...

A seven car pile up occurred this morning due to the recent snow fall.   If traveling on the tub, please use caution.  You may get "creamed"!

Stinger's Hearing Test

I took Stinger to get his hearing tested on Monday.  I was not looking forward to it.   Our Pastor said on Sunday in his sermon that if there was anything challenging this week happening, to let God walk WITH you through it.  So that is what we did.
HE helped me drive our car through slushy and wet roads to get there safely and on time.  HE helped an active (no mommy I am not going to sit still) Stinger in the waiting room by having the receptionist offer coloring pages to color.  HE helped an unsure Stinger to get familiar with the audiologist by having the audiologist come to the waiting room and offer to play with some toys with Stinger, before going back to the testing room.   HE helped Stinger be brave when they put the probes in his ears.  HE helped Stinger have no tears.  Even better, at the end of the appointment and the results were in, we found out HE blessed our beautiful little Stinger with excellent hearing!

The Bee's and The First Snow

Stinger experienced snow for the first time today.  Well, I know he must have seen snow last year, but I know he did not remember it because of how he acted today.  All he wanted to do was touch it!  He then cried when he discovered it made his hands cold! Here is my little "snow" man trying out his toy vacuum in the snow...

I think you missed a few million flakes, Stinger!

Bumble of course remembered what snow was and knew just what to do with it...

While Stinger was playing with his Dirt Devil, she was making an angel...

Wonderful snow angel, Bumble!

When Stinger and Bumble were finished playing in the snow, a big Honey bee warmed them up...

Part of me wishes that I would have went out and played in the snow and got cold too...if you get my "drift"!
