Bumble's Gummy Bear Experiment

Bumble does school lessons everyday.  She requests them!

Tonight we did a science experiment from the book pictured above.  Bumble was excited!  One of the items we needed for the experiment was gummy bears.  Luckily I had some in the cupboard that I bought for Stinger.

They are all natural, have no dye in them, and are delicious!  This was the lucky bear that was chosen...

Doesn't he look scared! You will also need a ruler and a glass of water if you would like to do this experiment with your child.

To begin, measure the gummy bear with the ruler.  Measure it's length and width and record it on paper.

Then drop him in a glass of water.

Leave the gummy bear in the water to soak overnight.

Have your child predict what they think will happen to the bear.  Will he get bigger, smaller, or stay the same?
Bumble predicted that the bear will get bigger.  I don't know about you but I can't "bear" the thought of waiting, but I guess we will all find out tomorrow.

  1. You should home school Bumble and Stinger! She's doing a 2nd grade book already? Yeah, she will be bored at school, it will be un"bear"able for her! ;) I love reading about the hive!

  2. I hope public school is not un"bear"able for her because that is where she is headed next year! We will see how public school works out for her and change our plans if needed. She only does some of the lessons in the grade 2 book. Some of the lessons are over her head like multiplication. Thanks for taking the time to peek in our hive!
