A Bee Gets Registered

Can you believe my sweet 5 year old Bumble went to her Kindergarten registration last week?

Neither can I.   She will be joining the class of 2027!  (I am trying very hard NOT to figure out how old I will be when she graduates!) Anyway, Bumble did great.  The teacher that evaluated her said that she has no doubt that Bumble is ready for Kindergarten.  They asked her to count and Bumble counted all the way to 100 before the teacher stopped her.  That earned her a high five and big cheer from the teacher.  She also identified all her letters and wrote her name.  I did not inform them that she can also read and do math.  I will let them figure it out!  I asked Bumble what she is most looking forward to about Kindergarten and she said recess!  The playground equipment she spied by the school looked like a lot of fun to her.  As the time gets closer I am getting excited for her as well.  She is getting a little bored here at home and getting to be around other children her age will be good for her.  So when the big yellow bus comes for her in August I have decided that I will let her get on and I will not follow it.  I promise.

"Track"ing Down The Bees

The Bees have been busy lately.  Sometimes it is hard track us down, but here is where we were today...

What a beautiful day for a track meet!  Honey is coaching the throwers this year which consists of shot put, javelin, and discus.  Honey said we could tag along with him if we wanted too.   Here Honey is explaining to Bumble and Stinger that loud sound they keep hearing is the gunshot to start a race.

Although Stinger and Bumble didn't really enjoy watching the track meet they enjoyed getting to see what daddy does.   Eventually they found some fun in rolling down hills, finding pine cones, and playing in dirt...

I also had to explain that the sand pit for the long jumpers was not for playing in.  They seemed to think that that was a waste of perfectly good sand.
While I was there watching them play, I was thinking that in a few short years I may be standing here watching them run around this track.   They definitely have the energy for it!

This Post Is For The Birds

The Bees recently hung a bird feeder outside their dining room window...

Bumble likes to spy on the birds...

We have seen cardinals, wood peckers, yellow finches (at least that is what I think they are!), blue jays, and lots of other birds we cannot identify.  Can you spot the bird in this photo?...

Stinger likes to watch the birds too, but of course with everything else he does, he must add an element of height and danger to it.

Anyway, this bird feeder is really for the birds, but us Bees love it too!

Honey's "Salty" Classroom Experiment, Part 2

Remember the post about Honey doing an activity with his class that required meat and a lot of salt? Well if not you can read about it here.   The idea for this activity came from the other social studies teacher that also teaches the same grade as Honey.  He has been doing this activity for years and Honey decided to do it also. On Friday, Honey took the meat out of the salt and soaked it in water over the weekend.

Looks scrumptious doesn't it.

Then today he grilled it with some peppers and onions and fed the 6 month old meat to his students.  Well, only the students that had signed permission forms from their parents, which was about half!  He didn't want any student going home and saying, "Guess what! My teacher fed me meat today that he had in the closet for 6 months!"
Anyway the students that ate it did not think it was tasty at all.  They said it reminded them of cardboard.  Ironically, they asked for some salt for on it to give it some taste!

The Bee's Like Spring

The Bee's are SO over winter.  Although the calendar says it is now spring, with all the chilly weather we are still having I am having trouble believing it.  Luckily this weekend we had a sunny day, so the Bees went outside and played.  Bumble has been bugging me to dig in the dirt so that is what we did!

We dug out the shovels, buckets, and gardening gloves and they went to work, digging and dumping.  We still have a section of yard that has not been seeded yet so that is where they played.

Notice Stinger kept his shoes on and is even wearing gardening gloves!!!

He did eventually get distracted by the woodpile.  I am going to go out on a limb here and say this boy likes to climb.  Oh what a fun spring and summer us Bees are going to have!

Queen Bee Makes Crockpot Chicken Stroganoff

Need another easy recipe that also has been approved by the Bees?  Here are the ingredients for Crockpot Chicken Stroganoff...

4- boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/8 cup butter
1- (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1- (8 ounce) package of cream cheese
1 (10.75 ounce) cream of chicken soup
1 package of egg noodles (not pictured...please forgive me!)

First cut up the chicken into cubes...

Then melt butter and stir in the salad dressing mix...

Pour mixture over the chicken and stir until chicken is coated...

Then put the chicken in the crockpot and cook on low for 5 hours.  After 5 hours is up, then add the cream cheese and cream of chicken soup to the crockpot and cook on high for 1/2 hour or until heated through and warm.  While this is cooking, cook you egg noodles according to package directions and  have your eager children set the table...

Put some noodles on a plate and spoon the creamy chicken on top...

Delicious.  Enjoy!

Stinger Says "Moo"!

While Stinger's speech therapist was here the other day we both got to witness history as Stinger said the word "Moo"  correctly!  He only said it once correctly and his second attempt came out as "oob" but he is making some progress.  His speech therapist decided to now try some short lessons at the table with Stinger.  The sound we are working on again is "M".  He needs to learn to put the M sound before vowels.  Here is our homework for the week...

We have to move the "M" girl over the hurdles and make each sound like Ma, Me, Mi, Mo, Mu.  We have to do it both with long and short vowels sounds.  He has to do it 20 correctly out of 25 before we can move onto another letter!  I expect that we will be working on this for a while.

Stinger also has been fascinated by the alphabet more.  He started taking an interest in writing letters.  His favorite letter is "H".  Here is his "H"...

He seems to be able to visualize the letters in his head and then write them.  He is especially good at the letters that have straight lines.

Well I guess I will wrap up this post now.  "Ma", which is "Me", is going to "Mi" bed because I need "Mo" sleep!

A BEE C News

Let's begin with today's top headlines.  Queen Bee hasn't posted on her blog for over a week and her reader's are outraged.  Well, just her older sister!  She sent her a message saying she felt "bee"prived!

In other news, Queen Bee purchased quite a few Betty Crocker cake mixes the other week at Weis Markets.  Why?

They were only 2 cents a box with the coupons she used!  They also make great stacking toys.  Guess what Queen Bee will be making for a snack for her church's Kids Club tonight?  Cupcakes!

The Bees were also given some scrapple this past week...

Queen Bee fried it and had breakfast for supper, however, the two littlest Bees would not eat it.  Queen Bee says she can eat it if she can get past the thought of what she is eating!!  Is it called scrapple because it's made from all the scraps?

And finally, Stinger finally found some shoes he will keep on...

He raided his sister's closet and found some Stompee slippers.  Queen Bee wonders if he would wear these out in public if the comments would change from "Do you know your boy isn't wearing any shoes?" to "Do you know your boy is still wearing his slippers?!"

Thanks for joining us today and Queen Bee promises she won't "bee"prive you anymore!
